Considering volunteering for a position as an officer of NKCFCCA?
Here's some decision making help.  In this system, you look at a situation from six different perspectives.  Take a look, then make the decision to volunteer:

Presently, the duties apply to planning and executing the plans for FOUR meetings.  There is plenty of time between meetings to prepare for the next meeting without getting stressed.

Duties of North King County Family Child Care Association
President and Vice President

The most important thing you need to know is that you are on a team.  You are also a team player who listens to the needs of your members and works with your board to accomplish those goals.  Taking on the job of being a President or Vice President of our association is a job that requires the ability to know how to delegate responsibilities.  You are an organizer and someone who likes speaking to a group.  Usually the President will address the group but the Vice President also shares the responsibility.

EXPECTATIONS:
1. Remain a current member of NKCFCCA
2. Know and understand how to run a meeting in a respectful manner.
3. Know and understand the by-laws and standing rules of NKCFCCA.
4. Stay current with issues pertaining to the NKCFCCA business.
5. Work with your board and become informed on NKCFCCA business.
6. Attend and facilitate board meetings.
7. Create committees and appoint members to volunteer when needed.

BENEFITS:

Goals:
1. To increase membership
2. Create committees and delegate responsibilities
3. Educate and promote professionalism in our field
4. Advocate for providers

JOINT DUTIES:
Divide up these duties between yourselves and work together.
1. Create an agenda for each board meeting and chapter meeting together.
2. Create a calendar of events and STARS training's together in advance for the year, if possible.
3. Designate someone to create a newsletter for your chapter.
4. Both of  you must know and understand the duties of the association board members and work with them to accomplish their goals.
5. Designate someone to do an audit on the treasurers books at the end of each year and have them present an audit statement to  your board.
6. Keep a permanent log of all  information your association works on.
7. You may create as many committees as  you like to help you run your association.
8. Be ready to hand over your responsibilities and documents to any new board members after an election and assist in a smooth transition of a new board.
9.  Work to foster networking with other association. 

ACCOUNTABILITY
1. To your association to represent them to the best of your ability.

PRESIDENT ONLY DUTIES:
1. WRITE a President's message in each of  your chapter newsletters.
2. Address your members at meetings and inform them of information pertaining to your association.

Duties of North King County Family Child Care Association
Treasurer

The person who takes on this job is usually someone who has experience with basic accounting skills, but this is a job any provider can take on because most chapters books are quite simple to do.

EXPECTATIONS:
 1. To remain a member in good standing.
 2. Attend all board meetings of your association.
 3. Complete your accounting in a timely manner for meetings. 
 4. Have ready your accounting and all receipts when asked to produce them and keep track of all accounting.

BENEFITS:
 1. Learning how an association is run.
 2. Making lifelong friendships.
 3. Reimbursements for expenses.

DUTIES:
 1. Keep your accounting up to date each month for board meeting reports.
 2. Issue receipts for all money received.
 3. Promptly bank all money received.
 4. Seek out the safest and most productive place to bank the associations money.
 5. Do not pay out any money without the authority of the association board.
 6. Do not issue any petty cash without receiving a receipt.
 7. Clearly distinguish between capital, revenue and expenditure.
 8. Record receipts and payments clearly and accurately.
 9. Make sure the balance shown can be reconciled to the cash book.
10. Report past, present and future financial progress and position of the associations finances to the board and members
11. Prepare books at the end of  your term for an audit in order to turn the books over to the next treasurer.

ACCOUNTABILITY:
You are accountable to the NKCFCCA board and your membership to represent the finances of your association funds to the best of your ability.

REIMBURSEMENTS:
 1.As per the association by-laws and any thing you need to maintain your accounting books, keep all receipts for expenses you incur for your materials.


Duties of North King County Family Child Care Association
Secretary

Your job requires documenting a written record of proceedings discussed at NKCFCCA board meetings.  It is your responsibility to take clear understandable minutes and keep them in good order.

EXPECTATIONS:
It is expected for you to attend all association board meetings. If you cannot attend board meetings, please designate someone to replace you.  You are expected to give a report at each board meeting of what happened at the previous board meeting.

GOALS:
Create accurate, timely, competent records of minutes taken in an orderly fashion that is easy for passing onto another secretary when you leave office.  Assist your board in serving and conducting membership meetings.

1. To serve and assist in improving the education and status of professionalism for providers.
2. Being on a team fosters professionalism and helps networking in your field.
3. Making life long friendships.

DUTIES:
1. Keep all minutes taken in a neat orderly manner that is easily understood by others.
2. Present and give typed account of minutes taken at each board meeting.  Give oral minutes account at each board meeting of the previous meeting.

ACCOUNTABILITY:
You are accountable to NKCFCCA membership to keep an accurate record of minutes to the best of your ability and to present them when asked.

REIMBURSEMENTS:
You may be reimbursed for receipts for paper and any other materials necessary to keep your records of minutes for your association.
