HOME

Welcome to North King County Family Child Care Association, we have been an association since 2002.  NKCFCCA is a professional non-profit organization dedicated to working with family child care providers.

Our purpose is to inform, support, mentor and educate our membership.

The goal of our association is to help our membership create quality child cares, and to connect providers with the diverse agencies such as: DEL, CCR, STARS, C.A.R.E,  Professional Development Consortium, Children’s Alliance, and the Collaborative.

The first family child care home licensing law in the U.S. (in Pennsylvania) was enacted in 1885 prohibiting anyone from offering child care to more than 2 unrelated children  without a license.  Family Child Care Homes became a separate category in 1943 creating a profession for mothers to be able to work in the home.

We have come a long way since the days of "babysitting and daycare" and now prefer to be called "Professional Child Care Providers".
